AVN is a progressive disorder in which death of cellular bone due to the impairment or loss of blood supply occurs. The condition also can be resulted due to the long term use of the high dose steroid medications, connective tissue disease, trauma, sickle cell disease etc. Commonly affecting sites includes the head of femur, proximal tibia and femoral condyles. In Ayurveda Asthi-majjakshaya correlates with the symptoms of AVN. Administration of snehana (externallyinternally) is the best treatment modality, especially Basti with tiktarasa dravya processed in ksheer is indicated. In this case study, a diagnosed case of AVN 27yrs./M patient was considered. Ayurvedic treatment was planned accordingly. The results came were astonishing. On the day of admission, pain graded as ‘6’ on VAS. Stiffness graded as ‘2’ and After 2nd visit, pain reduced to grade ‘1’ and stiffness reduced to grade ‘0’. In Range of movements also he had significant improvement. After one year, MRI of both hip showed no progression of the disease. The outmost conclusion is that with the help of Ayurvedic management, the AVN can be well managed to some extent, thus providing its utility again in this modern era. More future studies is needed in this aspect for the betterment of the society.
