Abstract

MANAGEMENT OF ARTAVA KSHAYA WITH VENUPARVADI KWATHA: A CLINICAL STUDY

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is the science of life. In Ayurveda, through different treatment modalities of Ayurveda, one can maintain the healthy status of body and prevent the disease occurrence and cures the diseases in natural way. Geographical conditions, racial factors, nutritional standards, environmental influences and indulgence in strenuous physical activity can affect hormonal status and menstrual cycles of woman. Even on completing her family, having irregular and scanty menstruation is continuous stress denoting hormonal aberrations. There is a sharp increase in the incidence of same in modern age hence requires solution. A slight deviation in the menstrual cycle which may be excessive or low is filled with fear of some serious pathology of internal genital organs. In modern science, Oligomenorrhea & Hypomenorrhea (Artavakshaya) is treated by hormonal therapy & long term use of the drugs produces many side effects. To avoid this problem, in present study Venuparvadi Kwatha was selected due to their Artavajanana, and Garbhashayashodhana properties. And results were assessed on the basis of improvement in the subjective symptoms.
