AN AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT IN VITILIGO (SWITRA): A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Switra is a skin disorder in which there is hypopigmentation of skin. It can be corelated with Vitiligo in modern science. The vitiligo affects 1% of the world’s population.[1] Case presentation: A patient of 16 years old came with complaints of depigmented patch over both knee joint since 4 months. History revealed the survival of patient in unhygienic environment, improper food consumption. All this caused vitiation of Doshas and Dhatus; So to eliminate these toxins through Shodhan therapy. Management and Outcome: To balance the Doshas and Dhatus some Shaman Chikitsa had been done. Locally medication were also given. After 1 month he got significant relief in pigmentation. There is darkening in the patch. This case study demonstrates that switra can be successfully managed by Ayurvedic treatment.
