Abstract

EFFICACY OF GOKSHURADI GUGGULU IN THE MANAGEMENT A OF URINARY TRACT INFECTION - CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the term used to describe acute urethritis and cystitis caused by a microoraganism E. coli. It is a common disorder accounting for 1-3% of consultations in general medical practice. The prevalence of UTI in women is about 3% at the age of 20, increasing by about 1% in each subsequent decade. In, males, UTI is uncommon, except in the first year of life and over 60, when it may complicate bladder outflow obstruction. The symptoms of Urinary tract infection are similar to Mutrakriccha as described in Ayurveda. This is a case of UTI presenting with symptoms of urinary urgency and frequency, painfull micturition, burning micturition along with presence of bacterial growth, nitrites, puscells, and leucocyte esterase in urine. In this study a patient was considered suffering from Mutrakriccha and managed with Gokshuradi Guggulu for 45 days. Two assessment were made before and after treatment using symptoms of UTI, urine analysis and culture, showed significant changes in signs and symptoms, bacterial growth, nitrites, leucocyte esterase.
