Abstract

AMAVATA: REVIEW OF LITERATURE COMPARE WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is an Indian ancient medical science in the world. It is upaveda of Atharvaveda which is based on three sutras i.e. Hetu, linga and Aushadha. Here along with management of Roga; maintenance of swastha is also have same equality. The term Amavata itself explains the prime components of disease. The word Amavata consists of two words Ama and Vata. According to Madhava Nidan Ama means apakava Anna produced due to Nidana Sevan that is Hetu which are responsible for aamotpatti stimulated to aggravated Vata Dosha. Ama with vitiated Vata settles in Trika Sandhi, Kapha Sthan and other Sandhi of body and produces sandhi shoola, aaraktvarnata, sparshasahatva i.e. joint pain, joint stiffness, swelling, fever and causes temporary or permanent disability of joints, which interferes with daily routine of patient. Rheumatoid arthritis is chronic multisystem auto immune disease. The characteristics feature is persistent inflammatory synovitis. Usually involving peripheral joint in symmetric distribution. By this symptomatic compares we can be compare Amavata into rheumatoid arthritis in a contemporary science.
