ABSTRACT
A series of substituted thiazolidin-4-ones [IV(a-j)] were synthesized by
the reaction of substituted schiff’s bases [III(a-j)] with thioglycolic
acid in presence of zinc chloride for 3-4 minutes in Microwave
irradiation. The schiff’s bases [III(a-j)] were in turn obtained by the
substituted pyrimidine carboxylic acid hydrazide [II(a-j)] and 2-chloroquinolene-
3-carbaldehyde with the help of Microwave irradiation.
The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized by
FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectral analysis.
Keywords: thioglycolic acid, carboxylic acid.
