The dictation and style of Ayurvedic Samhitas is in Vedic language, that is Sanskrit. Ayurvedic literature is expressed in form of Sutras. So the Ayurveda Shastra renders the term Sutra as the synonym term of itself. Ancient treatise used various technical tools like Tantrayukti, Arthashraya, Kalpana and Tacchilya etc to make writing good and powerful. One such tool is concept of synonyms used by our Acharyas in order to express their ideas. Various words appear in Shloka bears various meanings. For depicting proper meaning, a special emphasis was laid down on the various lines of a particular verse. Concept of Prayaya in Ayurvedic compendia is a characteristic feature in Charaka Samhita. The description and application of synonyms are given at various places. The knowledge mentioned in Samhita should be studied according to Vakyasah, Vakyarthasah and Arthavayavasah. So to understand all treatise of Ayurveda attention is focused mainly on the root of the words. “Deh Dhatu Mal Mulam hi Shariram” said by Acharya Susruta and out of seven Dhatus one important one is Rakta Dhatu. On literary ground as we go through the text we come across words like Asrik, Shonit, Rudhira which are used in context of explaining Rakta. So this work is carried out to study the importance of Prayaya in Samhita Adhyanam and analyze specially Rakta dhatu basing upon different synonyms mentioned in Samhitas.
