ABSTRACT
Uterine arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a rare but potentially
life threatening condition. AVM often presents with intractable
bleeding in emergency department. To rule out any cause of bleeding
ultrasound usually became the first investigation. MRI can be more
useful in suspected cases, but angiography is conformative and is the
gold standard. Various methods have been used in management of
patient s with AVM, but Embolization is the best modality of treatment
which can avoid the need of more invasive form of treatment like
hysterectomy. Here we discussed a case of uterine AVM who presented with profuse vaginal
bleeding diagnosed with ultrasound and MRI and managed initially by conservative measures
and then planned for uterine artery embolization.
