AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF KASTARTAVA W.S.R. TO DYSMENORRHOEA: A CASE STUDY

Abstract Dysmenorrhoea is the term used to describe painful periods. 20 years old unmarried girl suffered with painful periods since her menarche. The present case study was done to evaluate the role of Ayurvedic therapy i.e. Matrabasti of Dashmula Taila (60 ml each Basti) for three consecutive menstrual cycle. After 3 months of medication, improvement was noticed in all subjective criteria i.e. lower abdominal pain, headache and nausea. According to Ayurvedic classics Kashtartava is Vatapradhana Vyadhi which has Rajah-Kriccha as a main symptom. The line of treatment was followed in this case was to treat the provoked Vata Dosha.
