A STUDY TO INVESTIGATE THE EFFECT OF A BRONCHODILATOR DRUG (MUCOPHYLLINE) ON BREAST-FEEDING ALBION RATS
Nouf Bader Alduweesh*
Abstract This work aimed to investigate the impact effect of the mucolytic and broncholytic drug on the female albino rats during lactation period. The breast feeding rats administered chosen drug by gastric tube from 1st postpartum day (PPD) to 21th PPD used two doses 30.83 mg/kg (low dose) and 66.61 mg/kg (Human equivalent dose (HED)). At the end of experiment the histopathology of liver, kidney, brain, ovary, mammary gland were examined. Furthermore, study the physiological state of breast feeding rats. The reults revealed many of histopathological alternation, pyknotic hepatocytes, cytoplasmic vacuolization, dilated sinusoid and necrotic area in hepatic tissue, kidney showed enlargement of the glomerulus, renal tubules degeneration and lymphatic infiltration. Brain (cerebral cortex and cerebellum) showed various neurodegenerative changes, vacuolization of neuropil, congested and dilated blood vessel and dark stain neurons. As well as the mucophylline induced imbalance of all physiological and biochemical parameters in dependent dose manner. All the previous finding prove the deleterious impact of mucophylline on the breast feeding rats and we give an advice to the mother to avoid medication taken as possible.
