Abstract During the development of children and adolescents, the immune system adapts to changing environmental conditions and coordinates immunological mechanisms with neuroendocrine regulation of body functions. It is particularly sensitive to metabolic disorders that disrupt the work of immunocompetent cells and cytokine production.
