COARCTATION OF THE AORTA AND PREGNANCY: A CASE REPORT

. Abstract Coarctation of the aorta is a common congenital malformation with an estimated incidence of 3.2 per 10,000 births. It is a narrowing of the aorta that affects in the majority of cases the isthmus of the aorta, downstream of the origin of the left subclavian artery. Involvement of the isthmus represents only 0.5 to 2% of all coarctations. It is very often discovered in children. If not treated, the evolution is fatal. This diagnosis is made exceptionally in pregnant and hypertensive women. We report a case of coarctation of the aorta diagnosed incidentally during a pregnancy. Keywords: .
