Abstract

Ayurveda science gives immense emphasis on the fundamental concepts regarding Dosha, Dushya and their circulatory channels i.e. Srotas. Srotas are the functional channels in body those posses and regulates one special function. There are various types of Srotas present in the body. Srotas are the channels of circulation which carry the transforming (“Parinamamapdhapmananama”) tissues from one place to another places. They work as communicating channels for nutrient tissues - temporary tissues (Asthayi Dhatus) which are to be utilized for formation of permanent Dhatus (Sthayi Dhatus). They also carry the Prana, Udaka & also the three types of Mala. Conclusively Srotas may be defined as a fine tubular structure of the body which transport different body constituents and excrete the waste product of body. It gives the meaning of oozing; permeating; osmosis; filtration and diffusion spontaneously. Due to morbidity of Srotas, the Sthayi Dhatu whether in passage (under the process of transformation) also get affected Likewise morbidity of other Srotas affect respective contents. Therefore there is need to study Srotas in details to understand the Samprapti of Disease in depth.
