RESTORATION OF NEPHROLOGICAL PARAMETERS BY FLEURYA AESTUANS LEAVES AND TETRAHYDROXYFLAVONE OF LEAD ACETATE INDUCED TOXICITY

Abstract

The impact of Fleurya aestuans hydroethanolic leaf extract and tetrahydroxyflavone against lead acetate-induced nephrotoxicity in Wistar rats was studied in this study. 55 Wistar rats weighing 110-170g were split into two phases. Group 1 (Control) got only ad libitum food and drink. Fleurya aestuans extract was given to groups 2,3,4 (50,75, and 200mg/kg). In phase two, Group A served as the control, Group B received only LA (2.25mg/kg), Groups C, D, and E were co-treated with LA (2.25mg/kg) and extract (50, 75, and 200mg/kg), Group F received LA and tetrahydroxyflavone (100mg/kg), and Group G received only tetrahydroxyflavone (100mg/kg). The rats were anesthetized with chloroform and sacrificed by cutting through the jugular vein. Blood samples were taken into heparinized vials for renal function test.
