Abstract

Azo salicylaldehyde (I-II) were prepared by reaction of Salicylaldehyde with diazonium salt of variedly substituted aniline by diazo coupling route. These were characterized by colour, physical constant, TLC, Schiff reagent test, UV-Vis, FTIR and HPLC. A simple, fast and accurate method has been developed and reported for the identification of azo aldehydes by chromatographic technique, High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The synthesized Azo-aldehydes were screened for biological properties.
