AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF KAMALA W.S.R. TO HEPATIC JAUNDICE: A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Ayurveda, is a healthy-lifestyle system that was used for more than 5,000 years. Ayurveda emphasises good health, prevention and treatment of illness through lifestyle practices and the use of herbal remedies. As per Ayurveda, Kamala results into Pitvarnata of tvaka, nakha, netra, mutra and purish. Hence, correlated with Jaundice in conventional science. The incidence of Jaundice is approximately 40,000 per 100,000 individuals. The aim of study is to evaluate Ayurvedic treatment in the management of Kamala. Kamala is caused due to increase in Ushna and Tikshna Guna of Pitta dosha and is Koshta- Shakhashrita disease. It leads to pale skin as well as decrease capacity of sensory organs to perform their routine function. As in Kamala, liver is infected, leads to abnormal digestion of food which may give rise to further complications, hence should be treated as early as possible. A 46 years old male patient with complaining about Udarashoola, Pitvarnata of twak, mutra and netra, Dravamala pravriti, Gudapradeshi daha since last 15 days. He was treated with conventional medicine but didn’t get satisfactory results so visited SSNJ Ayurved Hospital, Solapur. The patient was diagnosed as Kamala, as per Ayurveda and was treated with Shodhana as well as Shaman Chikitsa. The consequences of treatment were prominently decrease in above signs and symptoms.
