Abstract

Aloe is belonging to the family of Liliaceae Aloe vera is derived from two words „Alloeh‟ meaning shining bitter substance and „vera‟ meaning true and known to be Aloe barbidensis The Aloe leaves contains various chemical constituent like - Aloin, Anthraquinone, Amino acid, Isobarbaloin, Emodin, Lignin, Vitamin with anti-aging, anti-acne effect, moisturising, antioxidant, cosmetic property, Many cosmetic industry widely use aloe Vera plant due to its cosmetic property. Aloe vera is a natural product that is now a day widely used in the field of cosmetology or cosmeceutical. The Aloe vera plants, its properties, chemical constituents, cosmetic uses of aloe vera, current scenario and future prospect of aloe vera, are briefly review in this article.
