PHARMACEUTICAL AND ANALYTICAL STUDY OF 2 TYPES OF MAHAJWARANKUSH RASA

. Abstract Background: Mahajwarankush Rasa drug is commonly known herbomineral preparation, which is widely used in Jwara Rogadhikara (Different type of fever disease). In Bhavprakasa Samhita, two type of Mahajwarankush Rasa is mentioned for Sarvjwara Chikitsa. However, it becomes mandatory to develop quality profiles of all such formulations that contain metals or minerals or poisons in their composition. Aims and Objective: To prepare 2 types of Mahajwarankush Rasa as mentioned in classical texts and to do its Analytical Analysis. Materials and Methods: Firstly purification of ingredients called Parada, Gandhaka, Datura Beej and Vatsnabha was done as mentioned in classical books followed by formation of Kajjali. Then 2 types of Mahajwarankush Rasa was prepared as per Ayurvedic texts (Bhavprakasa) and characterized by various modern analytical techniques. Organoleptic characteristics, Physico-chemical analysis like Total ash, Acid insoluble ash, Water soluble ash, Loss on drying at 105 c, Identification chemical, Assay of elements were carried out as per API. Results and Conclusion: Classical pharmaceutical procedures of Mahajwarankush Rasa converts the macro elements into therapeutically effective medicines of microform which is proved by its analytical analysis.
