Abstract

Imidazole has a special role in heterocyclic chemistry and its derivatives have piqued interest in recent years due to its diverse chemistry and pharmacology properties. Imidazole is a nitrogencontaining heterocyclic ring that is essential in biology and pharmaceuticals. Anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, anti-tubercular, antifungal, analgesic, and anti-HIV, etc are some of the biological activities of imidazole and its derivatives. The high therapeutic properties of imidazole-related drugs have encouraged medicinal chemists to synthesize a large number of novel chemotherapeutic agents. This article aims to review the synthesis and some of the important reactions and various pharmacological activities of imidazole and its derivatives.
