Abstract

EFFECT OF PRACHANA KARMA AND GUNJADI TAILA SHIROABHYANGA IN INDRALUPTA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO ALOPECIA AREATA -A CASE STUDY

Abstract

Indralupta or Baldness is a kapalagata roga explained under kshudra roga is presented with is an autoimmune disease characterized with hair loss. Indralupta which can be treated as per the line of management like loss of hair grossly or in patches prevalent in male. It is compare with alopecia aerate. Prevalence Rate of Alopecia Areata is 0.7% in India. A 31-year male came to our OPD with the chief complaints of Hair fall and thinning of hair in the Frontal region from past 6 months. On local examination, patchy hair loss was seen in Frontal region. Patient was given Gunjadi taila Shiroabhyanga on alternate day over scalp area and Prachana Karma to the affected area once in a week. After 1 month, there was visible hair growth seen, hair fall was comparatively reduced. Prachhan karma helps to stimulate the hair follicles. Prachhan karma (blood letting by puncturing), followed by Shiroabhyanga (medicated liquid apply over scalp) with medicine having Keshya, Balya, and rejuvenating property gives good results in Indralupta.
