EVALUATION OF ANTIPYRETIC ACTIVITY OF KASEESA - GODANTI BHASMA IN WISTAR RATS
Suresh*, Sathyanarayana B. and J. Dinesh Nayak
. Abstract Ancient bhasma preparations are the unique concept of Ayurveda Rasashastra. This unique formulation can tackle and manage major illnesses including pyrexia of unknown origin. Fever is one of the most common medical signs. It is part of about 30% of healthcare visits by children and occurs in up to 75% of adults who are seriously sick. Therapeutically potent bhasma with nanosize and low doses is the contribution of Rasashastra. Rasoushadhi formulations, like bhasma preparations, are the wonder oushada dravyas in ayurvedic science. Even though the dose of rasoushadhis is very low, their therapeutic actions are far superior. Many references to single bhasma preparations are available in Classics.[1] Bhasma mentioned in Ayurvedic-classics is of such caliber that it could match the advancement in present nanotechnology. But the reference to “Combination of Two Bhasmas” as a “Single Bhasma” formulation is very rare. One such formulation is “Kaseesa-Godanti Bhasma”. After Covid -19 pandemic everyone worried about fever (Pyrexia). There are lots of Ayurvedic Bhasmas having Jwaragna action, but only few have been standardized and used in practice. This formulation has never been subjected to extensive pharmaceutical studies. Hence, a need was felt to develop standard operational procedures to develop in-house analytical standards and also to establish antipyretic activity of the formulation. The present study aims to identify the logical reason for the addition of two bhasmas, understand its synergistic action, and evaluate its antipyretic effects. But in present study it showed that there was no significant anti-pyretic activity observed by the oral administration of Kaseesa-Godanti Bhasma (45 mg/kg of body weight)) in Brewer‟s yeast induced pyrexia model in Wistar rats. Keywords: Kaseesa-Godanti Bhasma, Antipyretic activity, Rasoddhara Tanthra. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
