VATAJA PRATISHYAYA (ALLERGIC RHINITIS) AND ITS MANAGEMENT WITH ANU TAILA-NASYA, ASHWAGANDHADI COMPOUND AND SHIRISHADI KWATH

Abstract

The basic prerequisites for achieving success in any walk of life are alarmingly compromised because of Vataja Pratishyaya or Allergic rhinitis and its incidence and prevalence is also increasing day by day. On the other hand, the mainstream healing system is not in a position to promise the curative treatment for the same. So this present clinical work was undertaken to serve the very purpose of emancipation of this disgusting disease from the society. In this study, total 100 patients attending the E.N.T. OPD of the Department of Shalakya, I.P.G.T.&R.A., G.A.U.,Jamnagar,Hospital, were registered for the trial. All the patients were divided into two groups (Group-A &Group- B) by simple random sampling method. Patients had been selected on the basis of subjective and objective criteria for diagnosis. Patient information sheet were prepared and the patient’s informed and written consent were taken before starting the treatment. Patients of Group-A were treated by Anu Taila Nasya , Ashwagandhadi compound and Shirishadi kwath whereas those of Group-B i.e. control group were given Cetrizine, a Modern antiallergic drug along with placebo. Patients were given treatment for a period of one month. After completion of the treatment, the patients were followed for one month at weekly interval. Grading and scoring system was adopted for assessing each clinical feature before the commencement of trial and after completion of trial. The obtained data were subjected to statistical analysis which showed that Ayurvedic management has the potential to cure the diasthesis effectively.
