WOMEN'S ROLE IN AYURVEDIC VAJIKARANA THERAPY
Vikram Kumar*, Kamalesh Kumar Sharma
Abstract Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, encompasses eight principal branches, among which Vajikarana focuses on aphrodisiac therapy and reproductive vitality. While traditionally male-centered, the contributions and significance of women in this therapeutic domain are profound and underexplored. This review highlights the multidimensional role of women in Vajikarana therapy—physiologically, emotionally, and spiritually. Drawing from classical Ayurvedic texts and modern scientific perspectives, it discusses the attributes of an ideal partner (Stree Shreshtha), her influence on reproductive health, conception (Garbhadhana), and the broader wellness of both partners. A well-balanced female partner, according to Ayurveda, is essential not only for procreation but also for enhancing Ojas, vitality, and psychological stability. This paper synthesizes traditional views with contemporary insights to establish a holistic appreciation of women’s indispensable role in Vajikarana therapy. Keywords: Ayurveda, Vajikarana Therapy, Stree Shreshtha, Reproductive Health, Ojas, Garbhadhana. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
