SYNTHESIS, SPECTRAL STUDIES AND PHYSICAL CHARACTERISATION OF SOME NOVEL MORPHOLINE DERIVATIVES

Abstract Novel morpholine derivatives are synthesized through multistep reactions often involving morpholine with alkyl halides, aldehydes, or acid chlorides to form Schiff bases, hydrazides, or cyclic analogues, yielding high-purity compounds confirmed via spectroscopic methods. Spectral studies typically include ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, FT-IR and mass spectrometry to assign structures, revealing characteristic morpholine ring protons around 2.4-4.0 ppm, carbonyl stretches at 1650-1700 cm⁻¹ and molecular ions matching calculated masses. Physical characterizations involve melting points (often 120-200°C for solids), elemental analysis (CHN), and solubility in polar solvents like DMSO or ethanol, with many showing biological potential like Antibacterial and analgesic activity.
