Abstract Alzheimer disease (AD) is a genetically complex disorder. Mutationsin genes ApoE, Presenilin 1 & 2 and amyloid precursor protein maybe implicated in the pathogenesis of the disease. In this review, wediscuss current advances in AD genetics, implications of the knownAD genes, on the clinical diagnosis, treatment and genetic counselingof patients and families with early- and late-onset AD.
