THERAPEUTIC UTILITY OF VAMANA AND VIRECHANA IN MITIGATING OCCUPATIONAL BIOTOXICITY AND HEAVY METAL EXPOSURE
Dr. Anagha V. N.*, Dr. Vishnav C.
Abstract Modern industrial, agricultural, and artisanal sectors increasingly expose workers to chronic heavy metal toxicity (e.g., lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic) and biological hazards. Chronic exposure leads to bioaccumulation, oxidative stress, cellular damage, and systemic organ toxicity. Conventional chelation therapies often carry risk of re-distribution toxicity, essential mineral depletion, and adverse systemic effects. Ayurveda offers a systemic bio cleansing framework through Panchakarma, specifically Vamana (therapeutic emesis) and Virechana (therapeutic purgation), designed to eliminate endotoxins (Ama) and xenobiotics (Visha) from the cellular level. Keywords: Vamana, Virechana, Shodhana, Dooshivisha, Garavisha, occupational toxicity, heavy metals, lead, arsenic, Agada Tantra, Panchakarma. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
