SYNTHESIS OF SUBSTITUTED HETEROCYCLIC SCAFFOLDS USING ORGANO CATALYST IN AQUEOUS MEDIUM

Abstract A competent simple and green method has been developed for the synthesis of pyridine using catalytic amount of L-Arginine as a reusable catalyst. The method includes the reaction between aldehyde, dicyanomethane and thiol. The advantage of this protocol is excellent yield, short reaction time, no column chromatography, water as a green solvent and L-Arginine a reusable organo catalyst in catalytic amount.
