SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL STUDIES OF METHYLENE BASED THIAZOLIDINONE DERIVATIVES DERIVED FROM SUBSTITUTED SCHIFF BASES
Divyanshu D. Patel* and Keshav C. Patel
Abstract A series of 3,3’-(4,4’-methylene bis (2,5-dichloro-4,1-phynylene)bis(2- substituted phenylthiazolidin-4-one) have been synthesized by via the reaction of different Schiff bases with 1,4-dioxane and thioglycolic acid by using catalyst ZnCl2 in organic solvent at room temperature. All the synthesized compounds were screened for in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities on E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, S. pyogenes, C. albicans, S. cervecieaceae and A. clavatus. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds have been established on the basis of FTIR, 1H NMR and elemental analysis. Keywords: 4,4’-Methylene bis (2,5-dichloro aniline), aldehydes, Schiff base, 1,4-dioxane, thioglycolic acid and antimicrobial activity. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
