DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF TEMOZOLOMIDE AND CAPECITABINE IN SYNTHETIC MIXTURE
Pooja B. Patel* and Paresh U. Patel
Abstract The present manuscript describe simple, sensitive, rapid, accurate, precise and economical spectrophotometric method for the simultaneous determination of temozolomide and capecitabine in synthetic mixture. The method is based on the simultaneous equations for analysis of both the drugs using double distilled water as solvent. Temozolomide has absorbance maxima at 328 nm and Capecitabine has absorbance maxima at 240 nm in double distilled water. The linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 2-20 μg/ml and 2- 20 μg/ml for temozolomide and capecitabine, respectively. The concentrations of the drugs were determined by using simultaneous equations at both the wavelengths. The mean recovery was 99.85 ± 0.65 and 100.97 ± 0.44 for temozolomide and capecitabine, respectively. The method was found to be simple, sensitive, accurate and precise and was applicable for the simultaneous determination of temozolomide and capecitabine in synthetic mixture. The results of analysis have been validated statistically and by recovery studies. Keywords: Capecitabine, Temozolomide, Recovery, Simultaneous equations method, Validation.
