A REVIEW ON VEPPAMPATTAI CHOORANAM - A SIDDHA SINGLE HERBAL FORMULATION

Abstract Skin diseases are one of the common health problem affecting all ages from neonates to the elderly. In India, medicinal plants have been used in traditional system of medicines like Siddha and Ayurvedha since time immemorial. Azadirachta indica A Juss (Syn. Melia azadirachta) is a well known herb for its wide spectrum of medicinal properties. Veppampattai chooranam is a Siddha herbal formulation, which constitutes the bark powder of single herb Neem. This formulation has been indicated in the Siddha literature for the treatment of skin diseases such as dermatitis, scabies, eczema and psoriasis. The present article deals with the preliminary work on the literature analysis of Veppampattai chooranam from Siddha literature and recent researches on Neem Bark.
