Abstract For maintaining good health and physical efficiency, the diet should provide adequate amounts of all nutrients, For designing balance diet,it is essential to know the daily requirements of different nutrients. The amount of nutrients needed by individuals vary with different ages, activities and sex. The recommendation are given for adult men, women, children and infants. Variation in energy needs according to activity are indicated during adulthood. Specially requirements of pregnancy and lactation are also covered in the recommendations.
