ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF SOME MEDICINAL PLANTS OF FAMILY CUCURBITACEAE
Sandhya Rodge* and S. D. Biradar
Abstract Oxidadative stress is develops by various diseases such as cancer and heart diseases. The antioxidant action is an important property of phytomedicines to relive oxidative stress. The present study reveals antioxidant activity of methanol leaf and fruit extracts of five medicinal plants of family Cucurbitaceae namely: Coccinia grandis (L.) Voig. Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standl, Trichosanthes tricuspidata Lour, Diplocyclos palmatus (L.) Jeffrey, Cucumis setosus Cogn. Traditionally these plants were used to cure such stress related diseases. In present study the antioxidant effects was evaluated by 2-2 diphenly- 1, 1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay. The extracts exhibit different levels of antioxidant activity. Keywords: Antioxidant activity, DPPH frees scavenging, Coccinia grandis (L.) Voig. Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standl, Trichosanthes tricuspidata Lour, Diplocyclos palmatus (L.) Jeffrey, Cucumis setosus Cogn. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
