Abstract

TO EVALUATE GANDHRVAHASTYADI CHURNA IN MOOTRASHMARI

Abstract

Ayurveda is the most multidimentional system of healing various types of disease. Urinary calculi which is rightly called as Ashmari according to Ayurveda is the disease of the Mootravaha strotas. It is also included in the Mahagada. When the dosha gets vitiated from its moolasthan and reaches mootra marga along with the mootra by upsneha ashmari is formed. Numerous treatment modalities have been described by modern medicine to treat the diseases. Most of treatment includes surgical removal of the stone. But according to Ayurveda the main aim is not just to cure Ashmari but also to prevent the recurrence of the Mootrasamari, the same being attempted in this study. In this study Gandharvahastyadi churna is selected as the drug. Acharya Vagabhat has stated that Gandharvahastyadi is effective in curing the mutra vikar. This yoga contains 5 elements that is ingredients Gandharvahastya, Bruhati, Vyaghri, Gokshur, Ekshurat. A total of 30 volunteers were selected and were divided in to two group. In group A 15 volunters Trial Group were given the yoga, dosage 5 gm with madhur Dadhi abhyaantarpan twice a day. In the other group of 15 volunteers as a Control group, 2 tablets of Cystone with warm water was administered twice a day. To confirmation that stone is expelled USG of the abdomen pelvis, X-RAY KUB and an IVP-SOS was done. From the above 15 volunteers given the Gandharvahastyadi churna in 10 volunteers after the confirmatory test the stone was not found and in the remaining volunteers the pain was also reduced as well as the size of the stone was also reduced thus proving its lytic effect. So from the above it is stated that the Gandharvahastyadi churna can be used in the treatment of Mootrashmari.
