QUALITY PARAMETERS FOR STANDARDIZATION OF FICUS RELIGIOSA LINN. STEM BARK: AN UPDATE

Abstract

Objective of the study was to perform the quality parameters for standardization parameters for the stem bark of Ficus religiosa Linn. belonging to family Moraceae which is an Indian traditional medicinal and sacred plant. In present study macroscopical and microscopical characterstics, extractive values, ash values, fluorescent analysis, foreign organic matter, bitterness value, foaming index, swelling index, heavy metal analysis were performed according to standard references.Results of preliminary phytochemical screening showed the presence of various phytoconstituents. All these parameters provide creaditability in identification of adulteration from stem bark sample of Ficus religiosa Linn.
