COMPARATIVE STUDY OF PORTUNUS SANGUINOLENTUS AND PORTUNUS ARMATUS FOR EXTRACTION AND ESTIMATION OF CHITIN FOR VARIOUS FACTORS AND USE IT AS ALTERNATIVE FOR MEDIA CONSTITUENT
Arati Potphode*, Pratiksha Phukat, Rasika Lele and Girisha Mahale
Abstract Growth in population and industrialization, worldwide microbial media demand is increasing continuously. India has the largest fish processing industry in the world. A traditional method of media formulation mainly synthesized ingredient etc. all which are extracted from food products. There is a growing interest to find alternate bioresources for formulation of microbial media. Fish waste are a rich source of proteins, sugars, which can potentially used for formulation of media. Shells of Portunus sanguinolentus and Portunus armatus contains 450 μg/ml and 162.5 μg/ml of Proteins respectively. Whereas Shells of Portunus sanguinolentus and Portunus armatus contains 40 μg/ml and 20 μg/ml of Carbohydrate respectively. In this investigation attempt was made to formulate media with crab shell waste. And were further analyzed for growth with pure culture of E.coli, Soil isolates and sea water isolates. Keywords: Chitin, Shrimp waste, Media. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
