Abstract

EVALUATION OF ANTI â€“ INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY OF KARAI RASAYANAM, A SIDDHA PEDIATRIC DRUG

Abstract

The polyherbal formulation KARAI RASAYANAM a siddha drug mentioned for pediatric respiratory diseases, was assessed for its anti – inflammatory activity by invitro methods. Evaluation of the antiinflammatory activity of the drug was based on some parameters like Inhibition of albumin denaturation, Human RBC membrane stabilization at different concentrations. Diclofenac sodium, Acetylsalicyclic acid were used as standard drugs. The Results showed that Karai Rasayanam at 50 mg/ml concentration shows 93.57% inhibition of protein denaturation and at concentration of 12.5mg/ml shows 81.9% inhibition of hemolysis.
