Abstract
A new series of azetidine analogous designed and synthesized to meet
the structural requirements essential for antimicrobial activity.
Substituted derivatives of azetidine analogues and related compounds
had been synthesized using salicylic acid as a starting material. All the
synthesized compounds were screened for antimicrobial activity by
zone of inhibition method. The standard drugs used for the present
study were ampicillin as antibacterial and griseofulvin as antifungal.
The synthesized compounds exhibited significant antimicrobial activity
comparable to the standard drugs. Among these synthesized
compounds, compound code D1and D2 showed maximum activity.
Keywords: Antimicrobial, Azetidine, Cyclization Reaction, Heterocyclic chemistry.
