Abstract
Isolation of pure DNA from the plant sources is important for genetic
study leading to identification of the respective plant. In the present
investigation attempts have been made for the first time to isolate pure
DNA from Ageratum conyzoides L.(A. conyzoides L.) leaves. As
season has effect on synthesis of chemicals in the plant parts, attempts
have also been made to study the seasonal effect on concentration of
pure DNA in A. conyzoides L. leaves. During autumn, winter, summer
and rainy seasons leaves of A. conyzoides L. were collected, identified
by expertsand the leaves were processed for extraction, quantitation &
purity estimation of genomic DNA by the conventional methods.
Results showed that pure DNA in high amount was isolated from A.
conyzoides L. leaves during rainy season (June – August). It is
concluded that A. conyzoides L. leaves of rainy season may be used to get high amount of
pure DNA.
