Abstract

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND CHELATING PROPERTIES OF POLY[AZO-(1-NAPTHOL)]

Abstract

Poly [azo (1—Napthol)] was prepared by alcoholic alkaline reduction of 4, 6 dinitro resorcinol. The polymers prepared at time intervals were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and thermogravimetric analysis. The number Average molecular weight ( n M ) was determined by non-aqueous titration. Polymetric metal chelates of Cu+2, Co+2, Mn+2, Zn+2, Ni+2 with Poly [azo (1-Napthol)] polymer were prepared and characterized.
