Abstract
Antimicrobial efficiency of Cyperus rotundus L. a medicinal plant(Tuber extract) was examine using methanol as solvent and testedagainst human pathogens like Escherichia coli, Pseudomonasaeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus, Candidatropicalis and Malassezia furfur using agar well diffusion method. Themethanolic tuber extract had shown zone of inhibition against all thetest organisms at all concentration and zone of inhibition decreased insize with low concentration of tuber extract. It is revealed that the tuberextracts of C. rotundus showed maximum zone inhibition against P.aeruginosa (18.5±0.07 mm) and the minimum zone of inhibitionagainst E. coli (15.5±0.07 mm) at 1000 μg/ml concentration.
