STANDARDIZATION OF KUKKILATHY CHOORANAM: A SIDDHA HERBOMINERAL FORMULATION

Abstract
Siddha system is unique among the Indian system of medicine and its
drug sources are obtained from plants, minerals. metals and animals.
Kukkilathy chooranam is a herbo mineral drug was mentioned in
Siddha literature Anuboga vaithiya navaneetham by Hakeem.
P.M.Abdullah sahib. This herbo mineral drug can use for the various
kind of diseases like pakka soolai, alkul puttru, vippuruthi, powthiram,
kandamaalai, Moolam, pilavai, 21 megangal, pun, kirandhi, mega
soolai, megaranam, naabi pun, araiyappu, mega vayu, thimir vaatham,
nadukku vaatham. Standardization is a one point of safety and efficacy
of the drug. Every effective and potent medicine of Siddha, needs to be
standardized. The present study deals with analysing the physico-chemical characterization
and phytochemicals of Kukkilathy Chooranam to establish standard quality parameters. This
study showed low level of moisture content signifying low contamination, low loss of drying
shows the moisture content is less which is suitable for medicine preparation, low acid
insoluble ash proves that its efficiency of solubility increasing the bio availability and
Weakly acidic shows more readily absorbed from stomach.
