AN AYURVEDIVC MANAGEMENT OF JALODARA (ASCITES) & YAKRUTPLEHODARA (HEPATOSPLENOMEGALY): A CASE STUDY

Abstract Lifestyle disorders are associated with the way a person or group of people lives. It includes heart diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity, stroke and diseases associated with smoking, alcohol and drug abuse. It kills around 40 million people per year i.e. near 70% of all death in the world. Among these due to alcohol intake near about 1.65 million death occurs per year. Increase in alcohol intake increases the risk of developing ALD (Alcoholic Liver Diseases). ALD is the main cause of damage of liver & live functions. Liver injuries caused by alcohol are classified as- cirrhosis of liver, alcoholic hepatitis, alcoholic fatty liver. Liver cirrhosis is the main cause of ascites along with hepato-splenomegaly. In the present case study, the patient came in the panchakarma OPD with complaints of abdominal distension (++), abdominal pain, breathlessness, bipedal oedema, loss of appetite, weakness, anaemia, fullness of flanks. Other complaints are haematemesis & bleeding per rectum. He has history of chronic alcoholism for 10 years. Patient has above complaints since 1 year.
