Abstract
Thermophilic bacteria have an important role in the field of
biotechnology because thermophilic enzymes are absorbed in large
amounts in nature and have high stability due to changes in the
temperature of their environment. This research on isolation and
screening of themophilic bacteria aims to find thermophilic bacteria as
a produce of amylase enzymes. The sample spring water ware obtained
from sipoholon-tarutung hot sprong, north sumatera, Indonesia and
then recorded the physical, chemical, form and bacterial
characterization of Sipoholon-Tarutung hot springs. Ten bacteria were
selected based on differences in morphological caracteristics, five of
wich had the ability tapi produce amylase enzymes and carry put microscopic and
macroscopic characterization. The isolate BTSA-01 which has the high amylolytic index
value is 2.3 and the potential produce amylase enzymes.
