A CONCEPTUAL STUDY ON {ABEEJOTSARGA} ANOVULATION – A REVIEW

Abstract Anovulation is probably the major cause of female infertility. Incidence of infertility is on rise due to life style changes. Amongst the causes of female infertility, ovarian dysfunction contributes about 40% which includes anovulation i.e. failure of follicle development and release of ovum. Infertility is defines as a failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Factors like advanced maternal aged, weight, diet, ovulation disorders, hormonal disturbances, environmental pollutants that hamper the ovulation. Abeejotsarg is symptom as well as a disease caused due to vitiation of vata and kapha doshas as they do marga –avarodha to artavaha strotas leading to abeejotsarg. This article present anovulation from the lens of Ayurveda, discussing the ayurvedic concepts of Abeejotsarg i.e. Anovulation which is cause of infertility.
