A CASE STUDY: MANAGEMENT OF BHAGANDARA (FISTULA IN ANO) WITH KSHAR SUTRA AND MODERN TECHNIQUE

Abstract Bhagandara is the combination of two words “Bhaga” and “Darana”. It is called bhagandara as it tears the region of perineum, rectum and pelvis. In ayurveda bhagandara is considered under asthamahagadha. It was firstly described in detailed by Acharya Sushruta. It is one of the most common disease of anorectal region. In modern it is co-related with fistula-in-ano. The clinical features of fistula-in- ano resembles with bhagandara. In modern surgery many treatment modalities are described to treat fistula-in-ano. But there are chances of recurrence and the rate of complication is higher in modern treatment. In Ayurveda Kshar sutra is a gold standard treatment for bhagandara due to less recurrence rate and complications. It is very much time consuming to treat long fistulous tracts. Therefore, it is the need of the hour to have modern touch in our ayurvedic kshar sutra treatment to decrease healing time. Here is a case study of a 33 years old male patient examined in OPD of shalya tantra deptt., patanjali ayurvedic hospital and was treated with Snuhi apamarg kshar sutra along with partial fistulectomy.
