REVIEW ARTICLE ON INDIAN MALLOW PLANT

Abstract
Abutilon indicum is also called as Indian mallow belonging to the
family malvaceae. The whole plant of Abutilon indicum is used in
traditional medicine such as laxative, emollient, analgesic, antidiabetic,
anti-inflammatory. It is also used in the treatment of leprosy,
urinary diseases, jaundice, piles, relieving thirst and cleaning wounds.
The flowers are extracted with a different solvent such as ethanol,
methanol, ethyl acetate, petroleum ether, ethanol: water, methanol:
water. A review on the various parts of the plant is to provide the
pharmacological activities and traditional uses of the plant.
