Abstract
Emergence of multiple drug resistant microbial species is an arena of
serious concern all over the globe. Hydrazone derivatives have been
assessed to possess significant antimicrobial, antimycotic, antiinflammatory
and anticancerous properties and they have been
demonstrated to be a key solution to treat these microbial species
which display multiple drug resistance. In current work, a series of
hydrazone derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for antibacterial
activity against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis using Disc
diffusion assay. 2-(3,4-dichloro-bezoyl)-benzoic acid (2-oxo-1,2-
diphynyl-ethylidene)-hydrazide (HDZ-1), 2- (3,4-dichloro-bezoyl)-benzoic acid (2-hydoxy-
1,2-diphynyl-ethylidene)-hydrazide(HDZ-2), 2- (3,4-dichloro-bezoyl)-benzoic acid [1-(4-
methoxy-phenyle)-ethyledene]-hydrazide (HDZ-3), 2-(3,4-dichloro-bezoyl)-benzoic acid [1-
(4-bromo-phenyle)-ethyledene]-hydrazide(HDZ-4) 2- (3,4-dichloro-bezoyl)-benzoic acid [1-
(4-chloro-phenyle)-ethyledene]-hydrazide (HDZ-5) were the five key derivatives of
hydrazone which were fabricated and tested for antibacterial activity against E.coli and
B.subtilis.
