AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF VAGINAL CYST (GARTNER CYST): A CASE STUDY

Abstract
The vulval growth can be in the form of cysts, benign growth or
malignant growths. Vaginal cyst is include in benign growth, it is rare
and most commonly located in anterior vaginal wall. Vaginal cyst is
usually small, but may attain a size of 7.5cm in diameter. The vagina is
usually a site of benign conditions such as infections, ulceration and
other changes related to age of the patient, vagina is rarely can be a site
of malignancy. Nature has provided number of protections in the form
of high acidic pH, thick squamous cell epithelium. Whenever these
normal defences of vagina are altered there is increased risk of diseases
of the vagina. Vaginal cyst (Gartner cyst) probably arising from the
remnants of the wolffian duct. According to modern asymptomatic
cysts do not require treatment. If it causes symptoms they are excised. A 22year old, muslim
primigravida patient, her married life 2yrs, present with amenorrhea of 5 month 17 days and
something coming out per vaginum since 20 days. In Ayurveda it has been classified under
Granthi Roga vitiated by Prakupita Vatadi Dosha along with Rakta-Mamsa-Medogata
Dushti. In treatment process of excision may cause harmfull condition for primigravida‟s
precious baby. But an Ayurvedic local therapy and treatment plays an important role in this
condition and gives very quick and active effect without any harmfull effect.
