Abstract
The present study was designed to investigate the thrombolytic & antiarthritic
activity of methanolic extract of leaves of Homalomena
aromatica. Thrombolytic effect of the fraction was investigated in the
clot lysis experiment. The extract exerted 58.67% & 29.47% lysis of
the blood clot in thrombolytic activity test while 67.823% & 10.687%
lyses were obtained for the positive control (streptokinase) and
negative control respectively. And the Homalomena aromatica extract
possessed great thrombolytic activity which compounds are liable for
the present pharmacological actions and to know their mechanism of
action, extensive pharmacological and phytochemical experiments are essential. In vitro
arthritic activity, inhibition proteinase actions were evaluated to assess the anti-arthritic effect
of the selected plant extracts were assessed by using a hypotonic solution. In highest
concentration of Homalomena aromatica, shows significant anti-arthritic activity (53.16%,
43.04%, 35.44%, 30.38%, and 21.52%) compared with Diclofenac-Na. Further in-depth
studies on this plant can result in an eco-friendly cost effective anti-arthritic herbal drug with
anti-inflammatory potential contributing towards the better healthcare of human society.
