Abstract
The present study describes the alteration in LDH, SDH, GDH and
MDH activity in the liver, gills and kidney of a freshwater teleost fish,
Labeo procelus (heckle) after exposure to sublethal concentrations
(0.081 and 0.0021 ppm) of mercuric chloride for 48 and 96 hours. In
both sublethal concentration the enzyme activities Viz. SDH, GDH and
MDH in gills, liver and kidney showed a decrease with simultaneous
increase in LDH activity in all the tissues studied.
Keywords: Mercuric chloride, Labeo porcelus, dehydrogenase enzymes.
